Balvenie DoubleWood is matured in two types of oak casks, which comes as no surprise. It was aged in refill American oak casks for the first nine months before being finished in first fill European oak Oloroso sherry butts for another nine months. The whisky was first released in 1993 and has since become somewhat of a cult classic. This rich and nuanced dram, even at 12 years old, is a great illustration of what the Balvenie distillery can produce.

Nose: Spices and a nuttiness that's gritty and supple. Grapes with honeyed sultanas. Hugely appealing. Palate: Sweet and full-bodied. Gentle spice with a hint of vanilla develops in the bourbon, with a trace of balanced peat hiding discreetly in the substrata. Dried fruit is also present, mingling with almonds, nutmeg, and cinnamon to return to the bourbon notes. Finish: It's always a joy to relive a classic. (This is also a single malt that has the potential to convert a non-whisky consumer due to its delectability |
Special Ingredients | Gentle single malt, layered with flavours of Honey and Vanilla. |
