Quite smokey and iodine-dense. This has to be one of the most distinctive drams in Scotland. Laphroaig's medicinal malts are well-known, and the traditional 10 year old is no exception.

Nose: Big, smokey powerful peat tones open this. There are spices, liquorice, and a lot of salt in this dish. This whisky has become significantly sweeter in recent years, and it smells lovely, amidst the usual iodine/sticking plasters and cool wood smoke that we enjoy. Palate: With a dash of vanilla ice cream, this dish is seaweed-based. As you hold this whisky over your tongue, the wood muscles its way into the foreground. Black pepper/chilli grow in popularity as a result of an increase in spices. Finish: The savoury, tarry aromas develop up with an iodine depth, making the wine big and drying. |
