Despite initial indications that it would sit alongside The Glenlivet 12 year old, the Founder's Reserve single malt Scotch whisky is now available in the UK and will be replacing it in many mature markets, despite initial indications that it would sit alongside it, broadening the entry-level options. It's packaged in Georgian blue in honour of distillery founder George Smith.

Nose: Some dates are followed by a little harsh plum and apricot wine note, which at first appears to be a touch of saltiness but is better described as a slightly sharp plum and apricot wine note. There's orange zest, toffee, notes of struck match, and chocolate raisins, but there's also pear drops, a sprinkling of sweet cinnamon, honeysuckle, and sweet pea before it gets too 'Sherried.' Palate: Fruity, then sweet, with more toffee and a hint of anise, before transitioning to milk chocolate. Apple turnovers, flakes, and banoffee pie Finish: Now there's a lot of creamy toffee, a little oak, and a lot of sweet barley sugar warmth. The taste of milk chocolate raisins lingers. |
