Dating from the 19th century, Chateau du Pavillon is historically the first vineyard of the Ponty family, a symbol of Canon Fronsac wines, and a symbol of the Ponty style. With 100% Merlot vines, the variety we believe to best suit Bordeaux’s right bank, we want Chateau du Pavillon to express what Canon Fronsac wines stand for richness, roundness, and elegance.
Located on the plateau of Fronsac, the south exposure of the vineyard gives the grapes plenty of sun in the long summer days, allowing them to always mature to perfection. A very classic Bordeaux right bank pure Merlot. The wine shows a brilliant ruby color, the nose is complex with intense aromas of violet, blackberry, black cherry, cedarwood, and tobacco. On the palate, the wine is well structured with a good balance between the velvety soft tannins, ripe berry flavors, and woody flavors (cedarwood).
Slight smokiness due to the 12 months the wine has aged in barrels. The aftertaste is long and pleasant.
